Okay, everyone, our Comcast is up and running as of noon today (Monday!). So, the Blount’s are back in the blogging world.
Who had their first day of school today??? I did, and I can’t believe it’s that time of year already…being back at Shippensburg today made me feel like I was just there anticipating the end of the year and looking forward to the summer ahead…BUT the summer is gone and another school year is before me!!
I met the kids I’ll have today for the first 2 marking periods and I’m excited about my classes- you can get a general sense of attitudes on the first day and my kids seem like a good bunch. I’m teaching Wellness and Fitness at the high school, which is where I was last year with a lot of the same kids as well, so that’s nice!! Hopefully we’ll have some weeks of nice weather so we can head outside before heading into the Health classroom!!
As I walk through the hallways and hear bits of conversations, I’m reminded of how lost so many of the kids I come in contact with everyday are. It’s sad that they’re living for themselves and have no hope for their future. I encourage you all as you head into your schools to commit your day to the Lord in prayer every morning, and throughout the day be in a spirit of prayer for yourself, your friends, peers, teachers, etc. Also, treat others with love- even when they don’t deserve it. Respond with a smile even when you feel like hitting something. I’ve found this really throws people off and lightens their spirits as well. A college friend of mine used to say, “kill ‘em with kindness” and I love it!!
Anyway, hope everyone had a great first day…let me know if you have any funny stories from the day…we’ll see who has the best one.
