Living what I believe

…for the GLORY of GOD

Prayer for the Hurting… October 4, 2007

God, I don’t come to you nearly enough with this request, and please help me to do it more often, but I want to pray for our students who are hurting.  They are going through things I never went through and things I can’t imagine going through.  Their hearts are literally aching from ways they’ve been wronged from family or peers, or because of sin they are living in.  They are tempted from all angles, and they are kicked and beaten up when they’re already down.  They’re ignored, they’re made fun of, they’re tempted, they’re struggling…they are hurt.  There is no relief for some, it’s a constant battle.  Lord, bring healing and restoration as only you can do.  Begin to pick up the pieces of their broken hearts and mend them back together.  Teach them forgiveness, patience, self-control, kindness, and humility.  May they grow closer to you and feel your presence in their lives.  Comfort them and encourage them…wrap your arms around them so they can feel you and may they experience you in a new and fresh way.

I pray ODSM will become a place where they can come and feel safe.  May we show them unconditional love and may they be open and honest with their struggles, knowing we love them and are here for them no matter what.  As we share with each other may we become united and closer to you as a Student Ministry, and may we bring you glory through all we do.  Thanks for speaking to Jeremy’s heart and giving him the words to say to the hurting last night….continue to work in and through us.

Psalm 56:8 says, “You have taken account of my wanderings; Put my tears in Your bottle. Are they not in Your book?”  It’s pretty cool to think that our hurt is important to God…so important that He stores our tears in a bottle and keeps record of them in a book.
